Lushin Dubey Actress and theatreperson On her new play dealing with the subject of AIDS
Like some of your earlier productions, does your latest play also deal with a social issue?
After dealing with themes like child abuse and women's empowerment, my play Muskaan is a perspective on HIV. Despite the seriousness of the subject. I've tried to keep it light because life has its share of lighter moments too. It's about a depressed 40-years-old woman infected with HIV and how she undergoes a change after meeting this 28-year-old man who's also a carrier.
Once synonymous theatre, you seem to have taken a long break from it?
Yes, that's because for two years. I was busy with films including two Canadian Productions. But now I'm back. And in November, I will be holding a festival of three plays for kids which will feature some of our most popular productions.
Do you think Delhi is waking up to good theatre?
Of course, what's more audiences here enjoy new, experimental themes that make them think and this is apparent from the reception that most of my productions have got Theatre certainly seems to stir up the people here.
